What to look for when purchasing a compost tea maker?
Compost tea is something that growing in popularity as its use as a fertilizer day by day. So if you have decided that you need to get for yourself a compost tea maker then there are a few things that you first need to consider so that you can purchase the right kind that will work best. Of course as you must have figured out already, a compost tea maker is a lot different from the other compost systems such as a spinning composter or a rolling composter or the likes, however some of the characteristics of a good compost tea maker are pretty much the same.
For instance, you must look for one that has the right kind of container. The right kind of container means that the material that makes up the container should be of the right quality, it should be rust proof, therefore avoid buying one that has a container made of metal; but instead a plastic or even a fiberglass container will be perfect to give you a good compost tea making system.
Apart from the material of the container itself, the aerator is the next important thing that you need to look at when you are going in search of buying a good compost tea maker. The fact is that the good microbes and bacteria that is present need a lot of oxygen for them to grow and create the compost tea that is good for health. If instead there is not enough of this oxygen, then it is the bad strain of bacteria that will grow in the tea which is of course something that you do not desire. Therefore the safest thing for you to do will be to go for the compost tea making system that has the largest air pump or aerator so that there is a lot of oxygen present in the compost. When you use such a big aerator for making the tea, it will seem as though the water is boiling which is in fact just the right process of making this compost tea.
Also, another way in which you can ensure that you are buying the compost tea maker that will be able to provide the maximum amount of oxygen to the bacteria is by making sure that the tubing that is used is large enough. So avoid the models that have tubing systems that are small or narrow, the larger and wider the tubes the more oxygen will go in to the system. This will also result in more number of bubbles and larger bubbles to form on the surface which is actually perfect for the process of the compost tea making.
Also if you are making a purchase of a compost tea maker instead of simply building one yourself which would have been cheaper, out of a bin, also make sure that the unit comes with a lock that can keep all the creatures and the animals out of it.
